John Lavin is new to Rhinebeck having come from the Seattle area last year.  His ceramic artwork has been shown in the Northwest at a Gig Harbor Washington gallery for the last four years and he is still in the process of moving east.  His pottery style is unique and very diverse but always enjoyable to view.  Using both Raku and electric kiln techniques John creates unusual thrown and hand built art pieces that are often embellished by the addition of wood, glass, jade and shells. 

John is working on a new project now that will include the use of leather with his ceramic art.  He has been creating ceramic art for more than ten years and received his training from Christopher Mathie, an accomplished artist in Washington State.
